LA PAZ HOLIDAYS

Located at 11,811 feet (3,600 meters) above sea level, La Paz is the highest capital in the world and a city of stunning architectural beauty and colourful contrasts. In short, La Paz is a melting pot of the past and present, men and women still walk around wearing their colourful and traditional indigenous clothing, yet skyscrapers and suits accompany them.
Nestled in between are Spanish built churches and cathedrals with elaborate facades and beautifully carved statues. Sitting in a sunken valley in the Andean Mountains it is dominated by the snow-capped Mt. Illimani, which watches over the city and at night when millions of lights crawl up the sides of the valley it is a sight to behold.

The market streets around Plaza San Francisco with their colourful stalls bizarre array of artefacts and items on sale make this a curious city to explore on foot.
