This uninhabited caye is surrounded by coral reef and is a short speedboat ride out from Placencia. Relax on the beach, drink a rum punch and enjoy the freshly caught fish cooked on the barbeque.
This enormous 200 sq mile reserve is the world’s only jaguar reserve and is home to an estimated 40 to 50 jaguars. You will have to be very fortunate to actually see a jaguar but the reserve has plenty of other wildlife as well as numerous trails leading to hidden waterfalls
A short distance by boat along the coast is Monkey River Town, where the Monkey River enters the ocean. The day is spent going up stream where you will see howler monkeys, crocodiles and colourful birds.
