Akwadup Lodge
San Blas archipelago
San Blas archipelago
The 7 wooden bungalows are built over the water and painted bright green. They are spacious but very basic inside with palm thatched roofs. There are 2 double beds with good mosquito nets. Classic Kuna mola’s adorn the walls and the bed. The bathroom has a shower but there is no hot water.
The sun deck has hammocks and you can watch the Kuna pass by on their dugout canoes fishing. The food served in their restaurant is fresh and of good quality. And the staff here are some of the most friendly and attentive. On the night we stayed, they performed a traditional dance after our dinner which was quite an experience.
There are many islands nearby where you can go and visit the Kuna villages and learn about their way of life. Whilst it’s quite possible to snorkel off the beach here, the lodge can also take you out snorkelling for the day to other reefs and neighbouring uninhabited islands.
