Casa Magna
Tulum
Tulum
The main building of the casa is superbly decorated; high ceilings, old carved wooden chairs, washed up pieces of wood which have been placed strategically around – the décor is minimal because the casa itself is beautiful.
There is a spa on the beach and there is no menu in the restaurant, you just simply tell the chef what you want to eat, from the fresh fish of the day to superb steaks. Breakfast has the usual array of exotic fruits.
The 25 rooms are extremely spacious, light and airy with high ceilings, white walls, private patios, and hanging beds. Some have sunken mosaic baths, whilst others have the more traditional bathrooms along with additional lounging areas inside the rooms.
The upstairs lounge looks out across the ocean and there is a sitting area with a television if required, but this is the extent of electronics – there are no iPod docking stations, no telephones. This is a place to escape the real world for a time.
