Jaguar House Boat
The Pantanal
The Pantanal
The Taiama Reserve is a federally protected area; it is not open to the public and no-one is permitted to take tourists onto the reserve itself. However, as the reserve sits on an island in the middle of the river, you are free to travel around the reserve. Jaguars are visible day and night and they are often seen along the river Banks when they come to the river’s edge to drink, rest and hunt their favourite pray: caimans & capybaras and are best spotted between mid-June and mid-November and often quote close.
The boat itself includes 9 cabins, all with en suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Each cabin has 2 bunk beds, with the top bunk normally being used to store your luggage. Ultimately you will spend very little time in your cabin, but please manage expectations on standards.
The boat has a dining room, also with air-conditioning, TV/DVD, sound system and panoramic deck, which is where you will spend most of your time when here. Electricity is accessed directly from land, avoiding the noisy generator on the boat.
They have one or two 12 seater motorised boats which are used to travel around the area and allow you to get closer to the wildlife and each has a powerful but silent motor. Each boat comes with an English speaking naturalist guide
Schedule from July 15 to November 15
