Posada del Virrey is one of the smartest hotels in this sleepy little colonial town. The house dates from 1850 and retains some of its original charm, but the modern décor seems to have taken over a little. It is a great location inside the historical quarter and the rooms are spacious and clean.

The 14 rooms in the Posada Del Virrey are all spacious, tastefully decorated and have amenities that include an en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, mini bar and satellite/cable TV. The rooms are distributed over two floors and the suites on the second floor have private terraces offer panoramic views of the Colonia Bay. The old brick walls give the rooms a certain amount of charm and the interior modern décor gives a lovely contrast.

The Hotel Posada del Virrey is located on a quiet street in the beautiful historical district of Colonia del Sacramento. It is close to all the restaurants and shops, and just a few minutes stroll to the shore of the famous Rio de la Plata.

The hotel also has a nice restaurant and the buffet breakfast is very good. At any hotel, you need good staff and here they are; knowledgeable, helpful and extremely pleasant.
