The colonial Hacienda of San Agustín de Callo was built on the site of an Inca palace, one of the two most important archaeological Inca sites in Ecuador. The building is old 17thcentury estancia which has been converted into a lodge and still retains the original ceiling and perfectly carved Inca volcanic stone walls – a monument to a long ago forgotten craftsmanship.
In total San Agustin has 11 rooms, six suites of which four have adjoining drawing rooms, two suites with incorporated drawing rooms and five double rooms. The two smallest rooms Montufar and Bonpland, are located in Callo Lodge, but these are still double rooms and spacious.
The suites have a great view of the surrounding fields, Chimborazo and Tunguraghua. The warmth of the fireplaces makes this a relaxing environment within a family house.
Hacienda San Agustin de Callo Lodge has a magnificent view of Cotopaxi Volcano. This charming house has a cosy living room with fireplace and a kitchen. The main house has two suites with Jacuzzi’s, king size beds and independent drawing rooms.
