Comparable in grandeur to the Amazon basin, Corcovado National Park boasts 46km of untouched coastline and a vast tract of virgin tropical wet forest. This is Costa Rica’s last frontier, often cut off in the rainy season and only recently opened up to visitors.
Remotely located on the Osa peninsula in the south west, Corcovado is the most biologically intense area of the world’s most biologically diverse country! This dense forest is host to over 400 bird species including large populations of the beautiful scarlet macaw and 140 species of mammals such as Baird’s tapir, the white-lipped peccary and the jaguar. It is also home to the largest tree in Central America, the giant Silk Cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra) standing 77 metres tall.
