Pacuare Lodge

The effort to get here though is certainly worth it. The rooms are simply outstanding. The honeymoon suite is located at the top of a hill with a private plunge pool overlooking the valley below. Opposite the pool is a small bridge which is suspended mid-air and links to a tree opposite giving you further views of the valley. The room itself has a four poster bed draped with mosquito netting and a sitting area outside with comfortable chairs and a hammock. The en-suite bathroom is large and has a stand-alone bath and outside shower.
The river view rooms are equally beautiful. Exceptionally spacious they have an indoor siting area with sofas and armchairs, four poster bed or two queen beds, outside balcony with lounge chairs and hammock and some have their own plunge pools as well. The bathrooms also have stand-alone baths, his and her showers and an indoor and outdoor shower. Their standard rooms are much smaller, though still nice their own way. They are individual cabanas with en-suite facilities and four poster beds draped in mosquito netting and a small outside balcony.
The entire lodge is made of local wood and has thatched roofs. The 20 rooms are spread throughout the property so you never feel like you are close to anyone else, ensuring privacy wherever you are in the lodge.
The main house has an upstairs sitting area with a bar, sofas and armchairs are comfortable and having drinks at the end of the day listening to the river below is as hard as it gets. The downstairs dining area overlooks the river and the food is typically Costa Rican, but of a high standard. The infinity swimming pool is a new addition (2018) and is surrounded by jungle and well worth a dip.
Numerous activities can be done throughout the lodge from white water rafting, zip lines through and across the surrounding national park, nature walks, kayaking, or simply relaxing within the lodge. One of our favourite lodges in Costa Rica, if you can get here!
