Bellavista cloud forest lodge
Mindo
Mindo
Located less than 2 hours from the heart of Quito, Bellavista is a private reserve of 700 hectares, at the top of the famed Tandayapa Valley, near Mindo, in an area that has won the highest 24 hour bird count in 2006, 2007, and 2008!
Bromeliads and orchids, hummingbirds and tanagers, toucans and antpittas, all vie for our attention, and could keep any dedicated naturalist enthused for a lifetime of observation. Add to that the sense of adventure hiking the forest trails, or deep adventure hiking up streams to reach hidden waterfalls and you have the ingredients for a travel experience which you will not forget.
There are 16 rooms in total in various categories and house. Some prefer the 4-storey thatch-roofed geodesic dome, while others prefer the unusual Bamboo House, the half-timbered Trailhead House, or the House in the Woods. The 360 degree view from the dome allows you to gaze upon the rugged peaks of Pichincha and Cotacachi in the distance. You can also sit out on your private balcony and observe the activity at your own hummingbird feeder.
In this lofty paradise you can lie in bed and watch the sun rise over Bellavista or watch the mist lift from the deep valleys below.
Bellavista has all the comforts of home: hot showers, comfortable beds, friendly staff, plenty of relaxation, and delicious food. Their food is Ecuadorian and international and it is plentiful and delicious!
Their mission was to create a space for active conservation of the cloud forest, and provide educational recreation and a place of contemplation for visitors of all ages from all over the world, and they have managed to do this.
