Utopia Village
The Bay Islands
The Bay Islands
The ‘village’ as they like to be called is all made of local wood and has been superbly well decorated, both inside and outside. The thatched beach bar sits on the beach facing the ocean, the sun loungers are far enough away from each other to give you privacy if required and the rooms – 16 in all – are all ocean facing.
Inside the décor is elegant and understated, with fanned palm leaves, wooden table and chairs, soft furnishings, high ceilings and large pains of glass throughout to maximise light.
The rooms are spacious with either a king size bed or two double beds, all have en-suite facilities, air conditioning, ceiling fans and an outside sitting area on the balconies.
The lodge sits right on the reef, literally. If you get into the ocean you are swimming among corals within 20 seconds and not 10 metres from the shoreline is one of the best wall dives on the island. As with most lodges in the Bay Islands the Utopia Village caters towards divers though this is a superb option, whether you dive or not.
