The north west of Argentina is a lesser known region of Argentina, but a real gem. Here you will find pre-Inca ruins, multi coloured canyons, wind swept colonial towns and vineyards.
As a guideline, the itinerary outlined above would cost approximately £3,100 per person based on two people travelling and includes all activities on a private basis unless stated, private transfers, car hire in Salta accommodation and taxes and meals where mentioned.
In addition, the cost of the internal flights will be approximately is £800 per person.

Day 1 | Fly to Buenos Aires. Met on arrival and transfer to the Loisuites Recoleta for 2 nights in an executive room on a b&b basis. Afternoon free for personal exploration. https://www.latinodyssey.com/argentina/loisuites-recoleta |
Day 2 | In Buenos Aires. The city has a variety of attractions; you could visit the Tigre Delta, take a boat ride over to the UNESCO city of Colonia in Uruguay, or have a city tour through the diverse districts of Buenos Aires. |
Day 3 | Met and transferred to the airport for your flight to Salta. Met on arrival and transfer to the Hertz office and assisted with your car hire. Car to be rented is a 4 X 4 Toyota Hilux Double Cabin or Nissan Double Cabin 4×4 or similar (4 doors, CD Player and air conditioning). Drive to the Legado Mitico hotel for the night in a classic room on a b&b. Day 4 | We would recommend driving south down route 68. You will drive through the Quebrada de las Conchas (the shells ravine), where we suggest stopping en-route to visit the small multi coloured wind carved canyons, such as the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s throat), El Sapo (the toad) and El Fraile (the friar). At the end of the canyon you reach the wine country of Cafayate. Day 5-6 | 2 days for personal exploration. The lodge has a variety of activities, all of which can be arranged locally and include; mountain biking, hiking in the cafayate canyon, horse riding, visiting the surrounding vineyards, hiking to nearby waterfalls or simply relax at the hotel pool. |
Day 7 | This morning you will drive north through the Calchiques valley on the famous route 40, following the Calchaqui river. The majority of the day is on dirt road and we would suggest stopping to visit the Andean towns of San Carlos and Molinos en route. Day 8 | Morning free for personal exploration around Cachi. In the afternoon drive through the Los Cardones national Park (Cactus scattered across the desert), across the Andes, through the cloud forest and into Salta!
